How Award to Next Bidder Works for Silent Auction Items

This article explains how our Award to Next Bidder feature works for silent auctions.

If the winning bidder of a silent auction item has not paid or no longer wants the item, and you wish to award the item to the next bidder, you can do so from our Auction Bid Results table in the dashboard.

When you award an item to the next highest bidder, here's what happens:

1. The previously winning bid is deleted.
2. The previous winner is sent an email notifying them that they are no longer the winner. 
3. The auction item will then be awarded to the next highest bid. 
4. On the auction item page, you will now see the next highest bidder listed as the winner, and the previous winning bidder will be removed.
5. That new winner will be notified via email that they are now the winner, with a link to complete their purchase. The new winner is not automatically charged.
6. The auction item will be added to their cart for the new winner to complete their purchase.
