How GL Post Date and Status Works with our Raiser's Edge NXT Integration
Learn how Trellis sets GL Post Date and GL Post Status when gifts sync to Raiser's Edge NXT.
GL Post Date and GL Post Status are gift fields in Raiser's Edge NXT that control when a gift is recognized in your general ledger.
Our integration sets these fields automatically when a gift syncs. This article explains how, and what it means for editing gifts later.
For more on how these fields work in Raiser's Edge NXT itself, see Blackbaud's GL Post Date and Status article.
How We Set GL Post Status
Our integration adds gifts directly onto the donor record rather than through a batch. Because of this, we need to set a GL Post Status on every gift we sync.
- By default, we set gifts to Not Posted. This keeps the gift editable in Raiser's Edge NXT.
- We set gifts to Do Not Post when no funds moved through Trellis, such as free gifts or offline checkouts.
Please Note: Once a gift is posted (by you or your finance team), it can no longer be edited in Raiser's Edge NXT.
This includes our feature for moving a gift between an individual and an organization. If a gift has been posted, that option will no longer be available.
How We Set GL Post Date
The GL Post Date we set depends on your sync settings:
- Sync on checkout date: GL Post Date is set to the estimated payout date.
- Sync on payout date: GL Post Date is set to the estimated arrival date.
The gift date itself always reflects the checkout date, regardless of which sync option you use. This is so you can keep track of when gifts are made in RE NXT.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can we use the batch function in RE NXT with the integration?
No, our integration adds gifts straight onto the donor record instead of through Raiser's Edge NXT batches. Our focus is on making the integration as accurate as possible to remove the need for manual review.
Can I change a gift's GL Post Status after it syncs?
Yes, using the gift post function in RE NXT. Once it's posted, the gift is locked and can't be edited, including moving it between an individual and an organization.
Why is a gift set to Do Not Post?
This happens when no funds transferred through Trellis, such as with free gifts or offline checkouts.
