How Tax Receipts Work with the Raiser's Edge NXT Integration
This article explains how tax receipt data will sync to RE NXT.
When donors make purchases on Trellis that are tax deductible, our integration will automatically handle syncing that tax receipt data into Raiser's Edge.
This is how the fields on a gift in Raiser's Edge gets populated based on the data in Trellis:
| Raiser's Edge Field | Trellis Value |
|---|---|
| Gift Amount | Total Paid (Tax Receipt Amount + Advantage) |
| Receipt Amount | Tax Receipt Amount |
| Receipt Number | Trellis Receipt Number (without prefix) |
| Receipt Status | - Receipted: Receipt generated on Trellis - Needs Receipt: Purchase has a tax receipted amount, but no receipt generated - Do Not Receipt: No tax receipted amount |
Additional Notes
-
For donations, the tax receipt amount equals the donation amount.
-
You can configure the receiptable portion when editing an event ticket or item in Trellis. If the Tax Receipt Amount is left blank, the gift will sync with the status Do Not Receipt.
- Auction items can also have a receiptable amount, if the purchase price is more than the item value and this feature is enabled on the item.
- In Canada, the auction item must sell for more than 125% of the item value.
- In the US, the auction item must sell for more than 100% of the item value.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you integrate with Receipt Stack or Receipt Series?
Unfortunately neither Receipt Stack or Receipt Series is available for integration. We previously integrated with Receipt Stack, however RE NXT is removing integration support for this as they turn to Receipt Series and we did not find that the feature worked reliably on their end.
Can we customize the Receipt Status value if we are not tax receipting on Trellis?
No, it is not possible to customize the receipt status value. It is set automatically based on the tax receipt amount set in the builder.
Is it possible to split an event ticket with a tax receipted portion into two separate gifts?
At this time, the event ticket purchase would appear as a single gift with the tax receipt amount set to what was entered in the builder.
For example, if a $150 event ticket has an advantage of $100 and tax receipt amount of $50, one gift will be created for $150 using your settings for event tickets.
