With Donate Your Bid, your generosity still makes an impact by converting your bid into a tax-deductible donation. Silent auctions can be thrilling, and now there’s a way to make them even more meaningful. With Donate Your Bid, you can turn your bid into a donation if you don’t win, helping the cause you care about, no matter the outcome. ### **How it Works** Let’s say you place a $100 bid on an item. If someone else wins, you can choose to have all or a portion of that $100 go straight to the organization automatically as a donation. If you later raise your bid, you’ll have the option to raise your donation as well. #### **Donating a One Time Bid** When you place a bid on a silent auction item, you’ll be asked whether you want to donate if you don’t win. You’ll see three quick options to choose from: 1. Donate 100% of your bid 2. Donate ~50% of your bid 3. Increase your donation to match the new bid. 2. Keep the original donation amount. 3. Set a new donation amount using the slider. Additionally: - Donation options are rounded to the nearest multiple of 5, for simplicity. - You can set one donation per auction item. - If you don’t win, your selected donation will be processed automatically at the end of the auction. - If you choose not to donate the first time, you'll be asked again if you bid again later. - If a donation is made, a small donation icon will appear beside your bid to indicate your selection (visible only to you).![](https://help.trellis.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202025-08-05%20at%2010-45-53%E2%80%AFAM-png.png?width=428&height=141&name=Screenshot%202025-08-05%20at%2010-45-53%E2%80%AFAM-png.png) #### **Donating an Auto-Bid** When placing an auto-bid (a maximum amount you’re willing to bid automatically): - You can still choose to donate 100%, 50%, or 25% of your max bid if you don’t win. - If you update your auto-bid, you’ll be prompted to confirm or update your donation choice as well. - A small donation icon will appear beside your bid to indicate your selection (visible only to you). ![](https://help.trellis.org/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Aug-05-2025-05-44-58-1804-PM.png?width=361&height=629&name=image-png-Aug-05-2025-05-44-58-1804-PM.png) ### **How to View and Cancel a Bid Donation** To **review or change** your donation: - Go to the **auction item page** and view your **bidding history**—you’ll see which bids are set to be donated. - To cancel, simply click **Remove Donated Bid** anytime before the auction ends. To **see all your bids and donations**: - Visit your **donor account**, view your bidding history, and toggle off any donation settings you’d like to change. ### **Your Impact Is Always Appreciated** Even if you don’t win the item, your donation goes directly to supporting a cause that matters to you—and yes, it’s **tax deductible**.
