How to Hide an Auction Item
Learn how to control when silent and live auction items are visible to donors.
You can hide individual auction items from your public auction page without deleting them. This is useful when an item is still being finalized, you're waiting on details or photos, or you want to pre-load items into your auction before they're ready to go live.
How to Hide an Auction Item
- From your fundraiser builder, navigate to Silent and Live Auctions in the sidebar.
- Find the item you want to hide in your auction item list and click Edit.
- Locate the Item Visibility field to the right of Offering Type.
- Change the setting from Visible to Hidden.
- Click Save, then Publish Changes in the top-right corner.
Once hidden, the item will be removed from your silent auction gallery and any silent or live auction previews. Items marked as hidden will show a Hidden badge in your auction item list so you can easily track their status.
Pro Tip: If you don't want any auction items to be visible to the public yet, you should use the "Show Silent Auctions Tab to Donors" toggle in the Silent and Live Auctions sidebar.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will hiding an item while the auction is open affect existing bids?
No. Any bids already placed on the item are preserved. If the item is hidden while the auction is open, the item page will show a "bidding paused" state. When you make the item visible again, bidding resumes normally.
Can I hide an item that has already been won?
Yes. Won items can be hidden from the gallery without affecting the winning bid or the donor's record.
Does hiding an item affect its position in the gallery?
The item retains its position. When you make it visible again, it will appear in the same spot in your gallery.
