How to Set Up Buy Now, Pay Later for Items for Sale

Our Buy Now, Pay Later feature allows donors to pledge to purchase items for sale, so they can participate instantly and complete their purchase later.

If your event attendees are signed in and have a credit card on file, they are able to One-Click-Buy from our Items for Sale page, saving them time from going through the checkout flow.

If your event attendees aren't signed in or don't have a credit card saved, (as we know some attendees always manage to sneak by check-in) the Buy Now, Pay Later feature is designed to allow them to still engage quickly without needing to pull out their wallets. 

With this feature, they will automatically be prompted to Buy Now, Pay Later by giving their full name and email address. Our system will then add the Item to their cart and reserve it until the attendee is ready to complete their purchase later.  

These items will appear as Pledges in your Dashboard and Check-in Tool, allowing you to follow up and request payment after the event.

Please Note:

Attendees are only able to Buy Now, Pay Later between the Start and End date under your event settings. Outside of this time, Buy Now, Pay Later is not available and purchases are required.

How to Set Up Item Buy Now, Pay Later

  1. In your fundraiser builder, set up your Items for Sale
  2. Now under fundraiser settings, select Buy Now, Pay Later and enable the toggle.
  3. Publish your fundraiser, and view your Items page on your live fundraiser.
  4. During your event, attendees that visit your items page and click Buy Now will either see the One-Click Buy flow or the Buy Now, Pay Later.
    1. One-Click Buy: If a donor is signed in with a saved payment method, they will be prompted to complete their purchase instantly, without going through the checkout.
    2. Buy Now, Pay Later: If a donor is signed in without a saved payment method, or the donor is not signed in, they will be prompted to Buy Now, Pay Later.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I add a Buy Now, Pay Later item to an attendee's cart from the Check-In Tool?

Yes - From the Check-In Tool, you can find the attendee and select Manage Cart. From there, click the button Item Buy Now to complete the flow. If the attendee does not have a credit card saved, it will automatically add the item as a Buy Now, Pay Later pledge.

 

Q: Can an attendee remove a Buy Now, Pay Later Item from their cart? 

No, the attendee cannot remove the reserved item from their cart. If a mistake was made, they must see the event organizer to have the item removed from their cart via the check-in tool.

 

Q: An attendee has a Buy Now, Pay Later item in their cart that they want to pay for later, but there's something else they want to buy now. How do they complete the purchase for everything but the Item?

If an attendee has a Buy Now, Pay Later item in their cart and they add something else to (like Canadian ERS raffle tickets), they must complete the purchase with everything inside their cart. At this time, there is no way to hold the Buy Now, Pay Later item in a separate queue.

However, if the attendee has a Buy Now, Pay Later item in their cart because they were not signed in, and they later sign in and have a payment method saved, the next time they visit the Items for Sale page they will be prompted to One-Click-Buy instead of Buy Now, Pay Later. The One-Click-Buy system skips the cart, so only that specific item is purchased.
