How to Move a Raiser's Edge Gift from an Organization to an Individual Constituent

If your donor made a purchase on behalf of a company or organization by mistake, here's how you can move the gift onto the individual record all within Trellis.

When purchasers go through the checkout process, depending on your configurations they will have the option to enter in their company. When entered, they can indicate that the purchase is being made on behalf of the company.

When purchases are made by a company/organization, our sync process will add the gift for the transaction to an organization constituent instead of an individual constituent.

For example, if a business buys a table of 10 and sends 10 employees, the gift will be synced to the corresponding organization record in Raiser's Edge. Depending on your integration configurations, the 10 event attendees will have separate constituents created or matched but they will not have gifts.

Sometimes donors move through the checkout process quickly and accidentally mark a purchase as on behalf of a company/organization, so the gift syncs to an organization in Raiser's Edge. It's super simple to move the gift within Trellis by editing the checkout results.

Before Diving In:

Moving gifts is only available for transactions processed via Stripe. BBMS transactions unfortunately cannot be moved at this time.

How to Move a Gift from an Organization Constituent (and Vice Versa)

  1. First, ensure that auto-sync is enabled in your integration settings.
  2. Then from your dashboard, go to Results > All Transactions.
  3. Find the transaction that was made on behalf of a company by mistake.
  4. Click the icon on the far right to view the checkout details. 
  5. From the Checkout Details page, under Purchaser click the Edit button.
  6. Find and disable the toggle that says "Purchase was on behalf of a company".
  7. As soon as this toggle is changed, our integration sync begins to move the gift. 
    1. While it is syncing, the blue Back button will be disabled until the process is finished.
  8. Once the Back button is enabled again, the gift has been moved and you will see a new Raiser's Edge System Record ID appear in the table.
  9. If you ever need to move the gift back to the organization constituent, you can repeat the above steps, but with the toggle on.
