How to Sell Raffle Tickets at Your In-Person Event

This article shares tips on how to promote and sell raffle tickets at your in-person event.

Selling raffle tickets at an in-person event is easier—and more effective—when you go digital. With an electronic raffle, you avoid the hassle of paper tickets, manual cash handling, and awkward sales pitches. But to make the most of this opportunity, you need a clear promotion strategy.

Here’s how to maximize sales of your online raffle during your event.

1. Integrate the Raffle Into All Pre-Event Communications

  • Add the raffle page link to event ticket confirmation emails, newsletters, and social media posts.

  • Include a QR code in all printed materials: posters, brochures, menus, and event tickets.

2. Feature the Raffle Prominently at the Event

  • Display signage with QR codes at entrances, bars, and high-traffic areas.

  • Include the raffle link and instructions in your event program or table menus.

  • If there’s a presentation screen or livestream, embed the raffle page so attendees can see the real-time prize pool or countdown.

  • Consider handing out a flashy trinket to purchasers, like a beaded necklace or light-up ring, to draw attention to raffle tickets. Other attendees will wonder where they got the trinket, and how they can get one too (often for their kids).

3. Get the MC and Volunteers Involved

  • Brief your MC ahead of time so they can make regular announcements throughout the night.

  • Train volunteers to promote the raffle by educating guests and directing them to scan QR codes.

Tip: Use affiliate links for volunteers if your raffle platform supports it. This allows you to track who brought in the most sales and adds a layer of gamification.

4. Ensure Legal Compliance and a Smooth Purchase Experience

  • All ticket purchases must comply with your raffle license.

  • Make sure buyers use their own credit cards and email addresses—the name on the ticket is the legal ticket holder.

Some guests may need help, especially if they don’t have a credit card or want to pay with cash. You can use Trellis' Sales Entry System (SES), which allows you to process purchases via cash, cheque, or any non-Trellis method while still logging the sale properly.

Final Tip

Your job isn’t to “sell”—it’s to inform and enable. With the right setup and team, your raffle can run almost on autopilot, boosting funds raised while creating a more seamless guest experience.
