Merge Tags

Merge Tags are placeholders in email marketing that automatically fill in personalized details like a recipient’s name, organization, or donation amount. By using Merge Tags, you can easily customize your mass or templated emails, making your messages feel more personal and relevant. This boosts engagement and improves the effectiveness of your outreach.

How to Add Merge Tags to Your Campaign

  1. Follow the instructions here to Create and Set up a Campaign in Trellis.
  2. When Editing the Message Content, click Merge Tags  to see all available tag options.
  3. Select the Merge Tag you want to include in your message.
  4. When testing or sending your emails, you’ll see the Merge Tag automatically replaced with the personalized details.

Direct Links

Direct Links are URLs included in your email or SMS that take recipients directly to specific pages or actions, such as donation pages or event sign-ups, without the need for additional navigation. Using Direct Links helps streamline the donor experience and increases the likelihood that they’ll take the desired action.

How to Add Direct Links to Your Campaign

  1. Follow the instructions here to Create and Set up a Campaign in Trellis.
  2. When Editng the Message Content, click Direct Links to view the link options available.
  3. Choose the Direct Link you want to include in your message.
  4. When testing or sending your emails, the Direct Link will become a clickable URL that directs recipients to your chosen landing page.

Don’t forget! Merge Tags and Direct Links can also be used in your SMS messages, helping you create personalized and efficient mobile communication through Trellis.
